The present study consisted of 110 healthy male adults whose ages were ranging from 23 to 35 years. We aimed to make a better analysis of these patients to obtain optimum surgical results. In our study, a landmark-based geometric morphometric technique was used to analyze the nasal shapes in adult male patients from the Black Sea Region. Our patients are characteristically representative of the Black Sea Region nose, which perhaps is a sign of a different ethnicity (Fig. (2006) consisted of 108 young male Turkish patients, however, that study has focused on general population in Turkey. To the best of our knowledge, the present study is the fi rst report regarding digital anthropometric shape analysis on the patients who applied for rhinoplasty in this region.
There are reports of the anthropometric studies on the nose concerning different races and genders in the literature, however the characteristic Black Sea Region nose has not been addressed until now. Rhinoplasty surgeons are increasingly in need of obtaining data based on accurate anthropometric measurements to perform optimum correction. Because it is at the center of the face, the shape of the nose is a de fi ning point for the face indicating the character of the person. (2005), who established a database of anthropometric norms by measuring and comparing more than 100 dimensions (Ercan et al., 2007). A great body of work in craniofacial anthropometry is that of Farkas et al. There are various studies in the literature regarding anatomy and dimensions of the nose.
Many kinds of facial surgery are currently performed for aesthetic re fi nement and reconstruction in patients of various nationalities (Kim et al., 2010). and morphologically the shape of the nose and its relationship with the face are quite different among races and genders (Uzun et al., 2006 Moss et al., 1987).
